Overview The Department of Geosciences at Utah State University seeks a Lecturer to deliver and develop courses fundamental to our teaching mission. This is a full-time, academic year, ongoing, benefited, term (non-tenure-track) faculty appointment. The role statement is 90% teaching, 10% service. The primary duties are to deliver 7 courses per year through in-person and online teaching modes. Courses may range from 1000-level to 3000-level, with specific teaching duties assigned by the Department Head each year. Estimated start date for this position is August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities
Delivery of 7 courses (21-23 credits) per academic year through in-person and online modes
Serve as Instructor of Record for delivered courses, responsible for all grading, policies, holding office hours and etc associated with best practices in teaching
Development and maintenance of laboratory exercises associated with courses taught, as well as mentoring of TAs conducting those laboratory sections
Regular maintenance and updating of course content
Development of new courses may constitute a teaching assignment in a given semester
Tracking and staying within budget of any pertinent course fee accounts
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
M.S. in geoscience
Experience in teaching a range of geoscience courses at the college level
Experience with Canvas software in delivery of courses
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching Geomorphology
Experience in course development and innovations in delivery
