Your Team

Scientists and engineers in R&D work together to develop, test, and launch products that enhance patient care. As a Senior Principal Software Test Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and evaluating optimal, cost-effective projects and technologies within the software development lifecycle (SDLC) with a focus on software testing. In addition to providing technical support and service to the areas above, the incumbent may also perform the following functions: supervising, requisitioning, defining, initiating, specifying, documenting and training.

What you'll be doing

  • Applies state of the art software testing techniques in the area of expertise to develop new or improved products and processes.

  • May lead a large-scale program or several small projects with complex features.

  • Independently plans, schedules and leads cross-functional team indetailed phases of software verification work in a project.

  • Planning and execution of a smaller project or defined piece of a larger project. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups.

  • Devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles.

  • May supervises/coordinates an engineer and/or technicians on assigned work throughout the software development lifecycle within boundaries of quality, time, and budget.

  • Independently designs, architects or develops software tests.

  • Collaborating with internal cross functional teams, end users, and third-party contacts to design, develop, document and maintain software test architecture deliverables for various projects for both embedded and application software.

  • Transforming software requirements into a software test architecture.

  • Identify various concepts and design alternatives.

What you'll bring

  • B.S.in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related field with 10+ years of related experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and procedures of software engineering (e.g. Statistical Methods, Software Risk Assessment, Software Testing, SDLC, IEC 62304, CMMI, Agile).

  • Ability to organize and present technical and project mgt. overviews without assistance.

  • Display a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside primary area of expertise.

  • Ability to convince management on courses of action using both written and verbal methods.

  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with embedded or application software test development.

  • Passionate about software quality and be prepared to advocate on behalf of good process and best practices.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering results on several technical challenges.

  • Experience with medical device software test engineering disciplines preferred (e.g. software development environments, configuration management tools, code inspection techniques and tools, testing methods and test management tools).

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 to $176,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
